Study
Clinical and epidemiological profile of children receiving palliative care at a hospital
Completed 2020–2021 · Hospital Infantil Albert Sabin · Brazil
This retrospective cohort study analysed the clinical and epidemiological profile of 56 children receiving palliative care at a tertiary public pediatric hospital in Ceará, Brazil. Participants were children under three years of age referred to the pediatric palliative care service. The study examined underlying conditions, care needs, respiratory and nutritional support, family conferences and clinical outcomes. It highlights the growing demand for palliative care among children with severe non-cancer conditions and the need for trained multidisciplinary teams and better-integrated pediatric palliative care services.
