The Dorcas Cancer Foundation · Nigeria
I am a global child health leader, health-systems strategist and implementation specialist with over a decade of experience improving care and outcomes for children with cancer and other serious health conditions in low- and middle-income countries. I currently serve as Chief Operating Officer of The Dorcas Cancer Foundation, where I provide strategic and operational leadership across childhood cancer control, early diagnosis and referral, treatment access, patient navigation, psychosocial and palliative care, survivorship, workforce development, research, advocacy and health-system strengthening. My experience includes programme design and implementation, multidisciplinary capacity building, stakeholder engagement, policy advocacy and partnership development with governments, healthcare institutions, professional societies and global organizations, including WHO, SIOP, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and UICC. I previously served as a Board Member of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology and Chair of the Young SIOP Network, contributing to global childhood cancer priorities, professional development and international collaboration. I hold an MSc in Global Child Health from the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. My research interests include paediatric palliative and supportive care, childhood cancer control, patient navigation, early diagnosis, referral pathways, continuity of care, health-services research, implementation science and child-centred health systems. I am particularly interested in understanding how palliative care can be integrated earlier within paediatric oncology and other serious childhood illnesses, and how evidence-based interventions can be adapted, scaled and sustained in resource-constrained settings. My broader research agenda focuses on reducing avoidable suffering, strengthening multidisciplinary and family-centred care, and translating evidence into policies and health-system solutions that improve the experiences and outcomes of children and their families.
